Job Description

Three Sixty is a design/build company that designs, engineers, fabricates, and installs all aspects of interiors for commercial and residential spaces with a focus on hospitality. Composed of a team with highly creative design skills, resulting in custom furniture, custom interiors, and millwork pieces that are unique to the space and client. From a process perspective, we strive to achieve consistency and efficiency throughout our systems.

We are looking for an applicant that is highly motivated, has a great work ethic, and is a team player. Our ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of professional upholstery experience seeking an in-person, full-time position. 

Job Description

The Upholstery Specialist is responsible for creating custom upholstery for commercial and residential furniture and other shop duties as assigned. This role requires a keen eye for detail, craftsmanship, and an understanding of fabrics, materials, and furniture construction. The Upholstery Specialist will work closely with the design and production teams to ensure that all upholstery work meets project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply selected fabrics, padding, springs, and other materials to ensure the final product is both comfortable and aesthetically appealing.
  • Cut and sew upholstery materials using industrial sewing machines and hand tools, ensuring precision in measurements and stitching.
  • Replace or repair damaged internal components such as padding, springs, and frames, ensuring durability and comfort in the finished product.
  • Work with designers and clients to understand specific needs, ensuring the final product aligns with the overall design vision.
  • Have a basic understanding of wood working so as to prep substrates for cushions produced via CNC.
  • Situationally reupholster, recover, and restore furniture, including sofas, chairs, cushions, and other pieces, according to design specifications and client requirements.
  • Ensure that upholstery work is of the highest quality, with attention to detail in stitching, fabric placement, and pattern alignment.
  • Inspect completed pieces for defects, ensuring that they meet client specifications and company standards before delivery or installation.
  • Ensure proper handling and care of materials, ensuring they are used efficiently and that any excess is stored properly for future use.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, ensuring that materials and tools are stored properly and that safety protocols are followed at all times.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as an upholstery specialist or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of upholstery work for residential and commercial projects.
  • Expertise in upholstery techniques, including sewing, cutting, and fabric application.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of materials, including fabrics, leathers, and foam, ensuring quality craftsmanship in every project.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship, with a focus on delivering high-quality, durable products.
  • Ability to work from detailed design plans and technical drawings, ensuring that upholstery work aligns with project requirements.
  • Experience with industrial sewing machines, hand tools, and other upholstery equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges related to material shortages, design revisions, or unexpected issues during the fabrication process.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with designers, project managers, and clients.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
