Job Description

Jamestown Container Companies, one of the largest independent manufacturers of corrugated products and distributor of packaging supplies in the northeastern United States, is looking to add a Structural Designer to its team. This position will work from the Falconer (Jamestown) New York location.

This position is responsible for producing industry standard corrugated samples as well as creating innovative structural corrugated designs to assist Sales Representatives in obtaining corrugated packaging orders. Assist in material (corrugated board) and packaged product testing including, but not limited to, TAPPI test methods, ISTA and UN Hazardous Material package testing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee must be able to:

• Discuss design projects with Sales Representatives.
• Be a good communicator with customers and JCC employees.
• Select appropriate designs needed and draw designs using ArtiosCAD software.
• Make samples using the Kongsberg CAD table or cut samples by hand.
• Maintain documentation of all design specifications.
• Meet time schedules on projects with possible overtime involved.
• Document production specifications from a prototype.
• Perform various packaging-related tests.
• Document specific details of tests performed.
• Analyze and make common sense conclusions based on test results.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Qualifications:

· Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

· College education or heavy college coursework in the field of computers, CAD, and drafting, or applicable work experience.

· 3-5 years work experience in packaging or a related field.

· Knowledge of Artios CAD, Kongsberg table, or similar tools.

· Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
