Manager manages a team of scrum masters and they have 15 squads under one fleet to deliver one book of work for Capital Markets (they have other fleets) Must have
They are looking for a scrum master to manage Insurance and Annuities <--Training will be provided on this
Standard Scrum master stuff – help team establish cadence, structure and governance in place, create dashboards, Jira hygiene practice
Manage blockers and dependencies, bring stakeholders for meetings
10-15 people are in each squad.
Get up to speed quickly on systems the squad is supporting. Understand the business side, be engaged in the process with the squads
Strong communications and writing skills
Analytical skills
Liase with diverse teams
Some teams are switching from Kanban to scrum, need someone to coach the squad.
Interview process
2 interviews – 1 with manager
2 nd one with a senior tech partner. No technical questions – mostly related to the background of the right candidate and they will talk about their culture and their team structure, not technical.
What the manager means by “this is a hybrid role”
This is a Scrum Master role, but they want project management also – attention to details, desire to understand the infrastructure and the business needs to be there. Manager feels a tech BA background is good to quickly understand this and understand the system. They don’t want a pure Scrum Master. Someone who wants to understand / learn the business, learn the systems. They will be asked to fasciliate conversations between TECH and THE BUSINESS. To take notes and follow up on action items. Will be doing 100% of their time doing Scrum master, but their skills from PM or Tech BA will help them do this job better . Not 100% agile, the team isn’t set up for this, deal with this an adapt. Deliver the book of work and help facilitate discussions, follow up on action items. The skills from project management and BA doing documentation is useful.

The Scrum Master promotes and supports the agile process within and outside the squad. This includes:
• Work with organizational resources outside the squad to help them interact effectively with the squad, remove impediments and protect them from organizational bureaucracy
• The Scrum Master coaches the Agile squad and the product owner on the Agile process, such as writing useful user stories and managing the backlog
• They foster a collaborative culture and ensure the squad regularly celebrates success
• For a newly formed squad the scrum master role may be a full time activity. As the squad matures the scrum master can start to contribute some time to squad deliveries
• Manage blockers, obstacles and dependencies.
• Bring together stakeholders for alignment meeting
• Organize training
• Report on squad improvements
• Facilitate retrospective to improve squad dynamics
• Facilitate creation and maintenance of squad artefacts such as backlog, definitions and norms etc..
• Managing the end to end software development lifecycle include dependencies management, issues/risk management, and key stakeholder management.
Skills Required:
• 7-10+ years program/project management experience in both Agile and Waterfall
• Financial Services experience
• Experience in program/project management for complex development projects with multiple different technology platforms
