We are seeking a High School Success Education Specialist to join our Office of Education Innovation and Improvement at the
Oregon Department of Education
. This is a limited duration position represented by theService Employees International Union (SEIU)
. This position is expected to end June 30, 2027.
This position is a hybrid of remote work and will need to report to the office when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible without interfering with business.

What you will do!
The High School Success Education Specialist plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the High School Success (Measure 98) program. The position provides guidance, technical assistance, and program oversight to Oregon school districts and educational agencies. The specialist ensures compliance with policies, enhances graduation rates, addresses chronic absenteeism, and advances equity-driven educational practices.
Typical Duties Include:
Program Coordination & Technical Assistance: Approving High School Success plans and sub-grant applications; Providing guidance, monitoring, and compliance support; Developing policy guidance and facilitate professional learning.
Communication & Outreach: Managing the High School Success communication plan; Maintaining public resources, including the program website; Drafting reports, presentations, and policy updates.
Relationship Building & Collaboration: Serving as a liaison between ODE, school districts, and partners; Supporting policy implementation with regional capacity builders.

Minimum Qualifications (Need to Have)
Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of education experience (for example: classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider), two years of which includes leadership experience (for example: lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator).
A Doctorate in Education or related field from an accredited university may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the two years of leadership experience.
An Oregon Standard Administrative License (issued by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.
Minimum qualifications must be met to qualify for this position.

Collaboration: Ability to build relationships with districts, educators, and community partners.
Problem-Solving & Policy: Experience in policy development, workgroups, and strategic planning.
Equity & Inclusion: Commitment to diversity and embedding equity in education programs.
Adaptability: Skilled at managing priorities, leading initiatives, and working independently.

Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
