Job Description

As the Transmission Line Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that ensure the protection of workers, the public, and the environment during the construction, maintenance, and operation of transmission line projects. You will collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices, and foster a safety-conscious culture across all project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and protocols for transmission line construction and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments at project sites to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on safety issues to project teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Monitor and track safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that all workers are properly trained in safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response procedures.
  • Investigate safety incidents and accidents, conducting root cause analyses and developing action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure that safety is integrated into all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry regulations, standards, and best practices, ensuring that company safety programs comply with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver regular safety reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
  • Foster a safety-first culture within the organization, promoting active participation from all team members in safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, with a focus on transmission line projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices in the energy and utilities sector.
  • Strong background in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, mentor, and lead teams.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
