Summary:
The Cannabis Purchasing Agent will be responsible for developing assortment plans and forecasting product demands for each assigned location, establishing and managing key vendor relationships including negotiating and sourcing necessary products, ensuring timely and effective deliveries of products, actively managing inventory levels, and conducting cost analyses.
As a Cannabis Purchasing agent you'll work with the Director of Procurement to shape product strategy, optimize pricing, promotions, and shelf placement to meet customer and financial goals. You'll manage sourcing, purchasing, and planning for third-party products, while building strong vendor relationships to secure favorable deals and enhance the customer experience.
This role contains the following duties and responsibilities and is not intended to be all inclusive :
• Be professional, ethical and a true ambassador for Higher Love in all internal and external interactions.
• Understand company needs based on store manager feedback, stock, inventory, projects and plans as well as the understanding of general sales and market trends according to retail store preferences.
• Detail oriented with an eye on process optimization.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires it.
• Responsible for planning and purchasing 3rd party products for assigned retail locations.
• Create and maintain effective partnerships with key vendors, effectively negotiate terms, pricing, and vendor agreements; partner with applicable internal departments to develop and execute terms.
• Maintain purchase orders and order tracking information in the designated system ensuring that orders are received, in full, at designated locations and that Accounting has necessary information to complete vendor payment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners on incoming products, new product introductions and pricing.
• Work closely with the Director of Procurement on sales and inventory reporting to ensure stores have adequate supply on hand in key categories and products.
• Collaborate with Director of Procurement to create a pricing strategy that is competitive with the competition, and yields determined margins.
• Work closely with the Director of Procurement to develop and maintain robust and efficient sales reporting and product performance metrics down to the SKU as needed.
• Maintain pulse on upcoming trends, and new vendors; establish and maintain relationships with new vendors.
Requirements:
• Must be at least 21 years old and be able to pass a background check.
• Cannabis product knowledge is required.
• 1+ years of industry experience preferred.
• Strong data-driven decision-making, excellent organizational skills, and effective communication with vendors and colleagues, paired with confident negotiation abilities.
• Efficiently meet deadlines, leverage business data analysis and software, and thrive in fast-paced environments, working independently or as a collaborative team member.
• Experience and ability to effectively manage priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge in the regulations for the cannabis industry.
• Flexibility to be in stores as needed.
