Position Description

Title: Operations Associate

Reports to: COO

Status: Full-time; Exempt

Date: 2025

Job Summary

Tschetter Group is an independent advisory firm focused on building life-long relationships with clients through a commonsense approach to investment management and planning. This position will be responsible for the smooth functioning of the business and implementation of the client service model. Someone well suited for this role will have the organizational drive, skills, and aptitude to “operationalize” the vision, mission, and values of the firm. The individual will need to be a forward thinker and anticipate needs of the firm, team, and clients.

The Operation Associate will perform portfolio accounting, reconciliation, trading, and billing/reporting. In addition, this role will assist the Chief Compliance Officer with firm compliance and help with building out the CRM. This is an essential and foundational position for the effective functioning of our business. Precise, organized, and highly accountable professionals are desired. A successful Operation Associate combines excellent math and problem-solving skills, proficiency with technology, and a strong customer service approach. In addition to these core tasks, the Operation Associate also delivers system-generated account reports, provides “customer” support to multiple internal groups by answering requests, supports the full life-cycle of client accounts from new account onboarding through portfolio closing, and participates in several auxiliary activities such as pricing reviews, data validations, and corporate actions processing.

As our team is still relatively small and focused on building a solid foundation for growth, we see it as of paramount importance to hire more than just skill and experience. We are also looking for entrepreneurial spirit, a strong alignment with our values and culture, and an excitement and enthusiasm in our mission to give clients optimism about life and money.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain processes, procedures, and protocols that promote effective and efficient operations and enable growth and scalability of the firm.
  • Manage internal and external reporting in support of ongoing client communication and business intelligence to firm management.
  • Ensure transaction/position integrity in TG’s records against client custodial records and relevant reference data.
  • Building block trades and any other trading related process including settlements.
  • Research and remediate reconciliation discrepancies daily. Requires close and frequent communication with counterparts at custodial banks and portfolio management software.
  • Manage operational aspects of new account onboarding, including set up of account attributes in portfolio accounting system, data feed connectivity to custodian, and verifying funding status.
  • Oversee necessary steps for other operational activities over an account lifecycle, such as contributions/withdrawals, audit requests, and account terminations.
  • Provide internal “customer” support, quickly responding to a high volume of time sensitive questions and requests from multiple internal teams.
  • Perform all investment accounting related duties for all accounts including monthly billing, quarterly reports, and ad-hoc projects assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
  • Entry to 2+ years of back/middle office financial work experience, preferably within Asset Management/RIA.
  • Basic understanding of investment markets, securities, security data, and investment systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • A builder of process and ability to “think outside of the box”.
  • Technological proficiency with Microsoft® Office, Salesforce; financial reporting/trading software (e.g. Orion, Tamarac, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Drive and desire to help and serve others with client-first mindset.

Salary and Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • May be eligible for incentive bonus tied to individual and firm performance.
  • Benefits include dental, vision, health care, and 401(k) with company match.

Tschetter Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
