Our challenge

As a Lead Core Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance Java applications, with a special focus on collections, multithreading, and concurrency. You will lead a team of developers while collaborating closely with business stakeholders to ensure that our solutions are robust, scalable, and secure.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Tampa, FL is $125k - $135k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of Java applications with a focus on collections, multithreading, and concurrency for banking and financial services.
  • Mentor and guide a team of developers, promoting best practices in software development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure high performance and responsiveness of applications by implementing efficient data structures and multithreading techniques.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure that coding standards are met and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, ensuring the reliability and stability of applications in a production environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in technology to continually enhance development processes and practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and technical specifications.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong emphasis on core Java technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in a lead or managerial role within the banking and financial services domain.
  • Deep understanding of Java collections framework, multithreading, and concurrency concepts.
  • Proficiency in Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and familiarity with ORM tools.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including agile practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Familiarity with security protocols and best practices in the banking sector.
