Job Description

Interior Designers create functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by assessing space requirements, determining optimal furniture placement, and selecting decorative items, all while adhering to relevant blueprint, building code, and inspection requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with designers, project architects and project managers on delivery of project milestones.
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, equipment, color palettes, and lighting.
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Provide design and documentation support during completion and execution of design concepts.
  • Rendering and visual communication skills.
  • Produce and assist with creation/detailing of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections in the construction documents.
  • Provide technical and documentation support during the construction document phase.
  • Participates in the construction administration of projects - including review of submittals, punch lists and any required project close out documentation.
  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, consultants, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives.
  • Collaborate and assist senior interior designers as needed for projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
  • Proficient visual design skills including proportion and aesthetics.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of building codes and inspection regulations related to interiors.
  • Working knowledge and experience of construction documentation and detailing.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Revit software.
  • Technical competence in Google SketchUp.
  • Ability to create or manipulate design spaces in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, or related field from an accredited program.
  • Interior design certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related professional work experience required.
  • Coursework in Google SketchUp.
  • Coursework in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Coursework in Revit.
  • English language communication and client interface skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to distinguish between colors.
