Scope: The Food Scientist will help shape the future of the R&D department at New Classic Cooking. This role will work cross functionally to build a culture of innovation while enhancing our technical expertise and maintaining an environment where quality and food safety is paramount. This team member will drive projects forward and assist other team members to do the same to ensure flawless execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation and some renovation projects from bench top formulation, commercialization and scale up, plant trials, 1st production and other support as needed.
  • Deliver recipes, internal specifications, documentation, nutrition panel labeling, and ingredient declarations to meet regulatory guidelines and quality food safety requirements.
  • Enhance our technical body of knowledge by working with internal and external resources to ensure VMG produces the highest quality products; this includes ingredients as well supplier research and competitive benchmarking.
  • Participate in innovation sessions and ongoing work to build and strengthen pipelines.
  • Develop an understanding of the voice of our consumer with insights from customer service and marketing.
  • Partner with operations and QA to better understand how R&D can improve operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with QA on SQF initiatives as needed.
  • Perform operational tasks and other projects and activities as needed.

Requirements:

· BS in Food science or chemistry or food engineering. Masters degree is preferred.

· 5+ years experience in the food/ingredient manufacturing industry required.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Basic skills related to chemical analysis, food processing and project management are a must.

· Knowledge of raw materials and ingredient functionality are essential.

· Proficient in office software (Excel, Word, Office) and Genesis software.

· Excellent, effective communication skills are required as well as effective presentation skills.

· Demonstrated proficiency in supporting and communicating technical information to all technical, production and marketing staff.

· Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) language skills a plus.
