Job Description

The Financial Advisor is responsible for managing existing and new client relationships, as well as participating in the cultivation and development of new business. Their primary responsibilities include working directly with clients, managing client communications, analyzing client data to provide appropriate solutions to accomplish client goals, developing client specific recommendations and being involved in the implementation of a client’s plan. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop client relationships and a ctively participate in business development efforts.
  • Execute multi-disciplinary financial planning on all basic and moderately complex topics.
  • Exhibit the ability to be a thoughtful listener to understand clients’ personal objectives in order to collaborate with the PDS team to help clients reach their financial goals.
  • Accurately conduct the planning, facilitation and presentation for client meetings and manage clients with attention to detail.
  • Direct consultation with attorneys, accountants and other advisors on financial, tax, insurance and estate planning .
  • Develop a knowledge of the PDS investment philosophy and portfolio management concepts being utilized in client portfolios.
  • Exhibit the ability to discuss investment performance, economic and market trends.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with an ability to address service concerns from clients.
  • Begin to develop knowledge and analysis for more complex planning topics.
  • Develop relationships with centers of influence (COI) to enhance personal and firm profile.
  • Work with financial planning team to adapt and enhance ongoing advice to clients.
  • Develop an area of expertise on a firm process and/or advanced planning topic to add value to the firm.
  • Assist in developing best practices for sales, marketing, communications and customer services strategies.
  • Regular contributor to PDS blog, plus other outside opportunities.
  • Actively participate in development and mentoring opportunities for Associate Paraplanners and Paraplanners.
  • Attain CFP®, if not already attained.

  • Education and/or Experience – Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration preferred, five to eight years of experience in the finance, accounting, legal industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Credentials - CFP® preferred, CPA or CFA welcome\
  • Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to other employees and management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, investment software products, graphics, etc. This role requires above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary.
