Our team is seeking a Engineer Manager Licensed 14 for our Bureau of Field Services Team. We are looking for someone who can embrace the challenges of meeting our goals and exceeding the standards!

This position functions as the manager of the ITS Traffic Management Unit within the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Section. This position has responsibility for overseeing the development and facilitation of the Statewide Transportation Operations Center (STOC), Traffic Incident Management (TIM), Congestion & Reliability, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement programs.


Manage the Operations Template in the Call for Projects to improve the state highway system with congestion, traffic operations, reliability and safety as part of the overall statewide transportation program. Develop strategies to assist regions and Transportation Service Centers (TSC) in traffic analysis. Develop and manage traffic performance measures as needed for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Provide leadership in integrating TIM with STOC, other state Transportation Operations Centers (TOCs) and develop partnerships with local agencies to respond to incidents, work zones, and special events. Manage the commercial vehicle enforcement template and partner with Michigan State Police (MSP) to maximize overweight enforcement efficiencies. Participate and manage in State and National research projects. Serve as the Chairperson for the TOC User group and serve as a member of the Traffic Safety Statewide Alignment Team (TSSAT). This position acts as a supervisor and is responsible to ensure the technical and professional development of employees and their commitment to customer service.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering



Experience
Five years of professional experience equivalent to an Engineer, including three years equivalent to an Engineer P11; two years equivalent to an Engineer 12, Engineer Manager 12, or Engineer Manager-Licensed 12; or, one year equivalent to an Engineer Manager 13, Engineer Manager-Licensed 13, Engineering Specialist 13, or Engineering Specialist-Licensed 13.

  • Possess a registers processional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • If applicable, attach a copy of your official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation with your application.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.



Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.



Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
