The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - to join our Psychiatry Consult Team in the Emergency Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of emergency medicine and behavioral health in a dynamic, high-volume academic medical center.
Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up consultations for patients presenting with acute mental health needs in the Emergency Department.
Work autonomously while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry attendings, residents, emergency medicine providers, social workers, mental health technicians, and medical students.

Coordinate care transitions with inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient providers, and community resources.

Prior experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings is strongly valued. For Nurse Practitioners, certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is preferred. While not required for Physician Assistants, equivalent experience in psychiatric care is highly regarded.
Successful completion of an APRN or PA educational program recognized by the State of Vermont.
