Data Center Technician

Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Location: North Las Vegas, NV (Onsite)

About the Role:

I am searching for a Data Center Technician to provide hands-on technical and operational support at our North Las Vegas Regional Management Center (RMC) . You’ll work within one of the most complex communications networks, ensuring 99.99% system uptime while managing system administration, network monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work in one of the most complex communications networks and as a member of the team will be responsible for 99.99% system uptime with zero defects.
• Involved with system monitoring, routine preventive maintenance, customer problem tracking, and network problem resolution in all networking aspects integral to Network Baseband, IF, and RF Communications and the related backend systems.
• Responsible for System Administration, Network Monitoring and Management, new buildouts, existing network changes and maintenance, and IP and system infrastructure maintenance.
• Identify root causes of technical problems and develop procedural and technical recommendations for improvement.
• Plan and coordinate the implementation of new products into the production environment.
• Monitor specific system limitations to maximize capacity and efficiency.
• Perform equipment-level capacity planning and network performance activities.
• Maintain equipment inventory and configuration management records, including software releases, patches, and hardware changes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Data Center Standards, Service Management Quality Program, and ITIL standards.
• Assume responsibility for escalation and emergency response requests in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment. Occasional work is required during maintenance windows, outside of normal working hours.
• Monitor power, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, and local security and monitoring systems.
• Proactively identify issues, create tickets to ensure that all details are captured accurately, follow escalation procedures as documented, use the notification system to effectively communicate issues to customer service and upper management, and troubleshoot the events in a short time frame.
• Responsibilities and duties may evolve and expand; communication, flexibility, and adaptation are important skills.

Shift: Rotating shifts (including nights and weekends) with shift differentials:

• 10% increase for shifts starting between 12:00 PM – 10:59 PM
• 15% increase for shifts starting between 11:00 PM – 2:59 AM
• 0% increase for shifts starting between 3:00 AM – 11:59 AM

Requirements:

✔ Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3)).

✔ Education & Experience: AA degree, electronics certification, or equivalent military training.

✔ 2+ years as a technician in SATCOM/Terrestrial environments with knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and Ethernet.

✔ Ability to work rotating shifts , including nights and weekends.

💡 Certifications: Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL (a plus).

💡 Experience with Unix/Linux systems and troubleshooting electronics using tools like spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters.

💡 Background in satellite technology, terrestrial networks, DSL, WiFi, and Cable/IPTV.

Physical Requirements:

🔹 Climb ladders up to 20 feet

🔹 Carry up to 50 lbs

🔹 Work with arms overhead for extended periods

🔹 Perform repetitive tasks like cable termination (CAT6/Coaxial/Fiber)
