Job Description-
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled A&P Technician for the Saab 340 platform. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience working with Saab 340 aircraft and will be responsible support aircraft maintenance, modifications, and ensuring airworthiness compliance. This role also involves supporting and interfacing with a team of technicians, including a Crew Chief / Lead Technician, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
o Supports the daily workflow needs as defined by the Lead Technician and the program.
o Support authority and responsibility for the airworthiness of the aircraft.
o Support a team of A&P technicians and support personnel. Maintain daily task assignments for all work performed on aircraft.
o Support day-to-day maintenance operations and ensure that all work is completed in accordance with FAA and NASA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
o Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians if needed.
o Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on Saab 340 aircraft. Support assessment and disposition aircraft squawks.
o Support and perform complex aircraft modifications, retrofits, and system upgrades, ensuring all changes meet regulatory standards and aircraft specifications.
o Support and perform accurate documentation and completion of all maintenance records and logbooks per FAA and company requirements.
o Monitor aircraft systems, engines, airframes, and components to detect potential issues before they become critical problems.
o Ensure all maintenance practices comply with FAA Part 25 repair station guidelines, OEM requirements, NASA maintenance and quality assurance guidelines, and Aurora Flight Sciences safety and EH&S policies.
o Execute safety protocols and best practices for the maintenance team.
o Support performance of final inspections to verify that all repairs and modifications are completed to the highest standard of airworthiness and meet design and quality requirements.
o Provide subject matter expertise for troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical, avionics, and structural issues on Saab 340 aircraft, when required.
o Stay current with technical manuals, bulletins, and manufacturer updates specific to the Saab 340 and other relevant aircraft systems.
o Support and perform the documentation maintenance procedures for the experimental systems and modified aircraft in a supplemental maintenance manual.
o Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely ordering and availability of parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance, modifications, and aircraft operation ad needed.
Qualifications and Certification:
o Must support on-site in Aurora Flight Sciences’ Manassas HQ 5-days a week.
o A minimum of 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Saab 340 aircraft maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
o Proven experience as a SAAB 340 Technician, including systems upgrades, avionics installations, and airframe alterations , and required certifications: GE CT7 General Familiarization Certification, strongly preferred, Flight Safety International Saab 340 A/B Maintenance Certification strongly preferred, GE Dowty Propeller Field Repairs Certification strongly preferred.
o FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License required.
o Inspection Authorization (IA) a plus.
o Valid Driver’s License required and ability to obtain airport access card.
o Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
o A working knowledge of Saab 340 systems, structures, engines, and avionics.
o Proficient with maintenance tracking software and computerized diagnostic tools.
o Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
