Accounting and Finance Manager
Berkeley Biologics, founded in 2023, manufactures high-quality, cost-effective, clinically relevant human cell/tissue products. The company offers a broad variety of allografts for bone, wound care and soft tissue applications. Berkeley Biologics is a licensed Tissue Bank that is accredited by the AATB.
The Accounting and Finance Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the financial management and reporting activities for Berkeley Biologics. This manager will have strong experience with Cost Accounting and play a key role in driving the company’s growth, executing strategies to increase operational efficiency, and contributing to the financial sustainability of the company.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is onsite in our Richmond, CA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting:
· Track and analyze manufacturing and operational costs, identifying trends and areas for cost reduction.
· Maintain cost accounting systems and ensure data accuracy in cost reports.
· Prepare cost variance analysis for new and existing products.
· Manage inventory valuation, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting. Collaborate with Operations team to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste.
· Review and post A/P, A/R and journal entries, close monthly general ledger and journal entries
· Manage internal controls, audit processes, and risk management strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
· Prepare income tax returns and quarterly tax estimates.
Financial Strategy & Reporting:
· Working closely with the CFO, oversee financial forecasting and budgeting processes, ensuring accurate projections and effective resource allocation.
· Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Perform in-depth financial analysis to assess profitability, cost management, and return on investment (ROI) across business units and product lines.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and industry-specific guidelines.
· Establish and document all required accounting policies and procedures.
· Coordinate with External Auditors for purposes of the efficient completion
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance or accounting. CPA highly desired.
· Minimum 8 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance.
· Expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and auditing.
· Prior industry experience in a medical device/biologics or other highly regulated manufacturing environment is highly desired.
· Proficiency in financial modeling using analysis tools and software.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
· Proven track record of leading financial planning, analysis, and reporting in a growth-oriented, fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000.
